When we’re sick, we follow the doctor’s orders carefully. But why don’t we do it when it comes to exercise, nutrition and other self-care activities that lead to a better quality of life?
I’ve seen too many people buy into the belief that more is always better, especially when they’re just starting out. They start with intense workouts 5-6 times a week, only to end up tired and needing a break. More intensity and frequency doesn’t speed up progress; it actually slows it down.
Exercise doesn’t have to be complicated. Doing basic movements like squats, pushes, pulls, lunges, hinges and carries regularly can make a big difference in your health.
Avoid extremes, keep it balanced and focus on the basics for long-term success in achieving a better quality of life.
