No doubt you’ve heard the phrase, “Age is just a number.”
But is it true?
Well, yes and no.
The human body is meant to move the same way whether you are in your 20s or your 80s.
A squat is a squat.
A hinge is a hinge.
A push is a push, and a pull is a pull.
As an experienced coach who has worked with people of all ages and backgrounds, I know what variations are needed to individualize the program and maximize the results.
All that “exercise science” type of stuff … that’s my responsibility to figure out.
All you have to do is show up.
Have a smile on your face.
Be encouraging and supportive to everyone around you.
And have fun.
And that’s a really important part of this.
Have FUN moving your body!
And enjoy the other people you are doing it with.
My oldest client asked me the other day, “Am I the oldest person here?”
“Yes,” I said. “Yes, you are.”
“Oh,” he said. “That’s not good.”
“WHAT?!?!” I replied. “That’s AMAZING!”
And then I gave him a quote that I hope will stick with him for the rest of his life.
“I’d rather be the oldest person at the gym than the youngest person at the nursing home.”
Let that sink in … and understand that it’s NEVER too late to start hitting the weights and taking care of your body.
