The Kiss of Death

In sports, they say the “vote of confidence” – when management proclaims that a struggling coach’s job is safe – is the kiss of death.

It’s true in health and fitness, too … when we get into ruts.

Many of us default to doing the things we’ve always done.

Eating the way we’ve always eaten.

Exercising the way we’ve always exercised.

Why?

The explanation is something like this: “That’s how I’ve always done it.”

For most of us, doing things the way we’ve always done them is the proven path to disappointing results.

Whether we’re talking about career, relationships, parenting, or health & fitness … doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

So why would we think it would be any different when it comes to having the body and health that we want?

If you want better, you have to change. By definition, if you don’t like what you have, then the only way to improve it is to change.

If we’re talking fitness, then that would be things like, “add more strength training,” or, “make each meal a little better by adding protein and/or vegetables.”

If it’s health & wellness, then that would be “taking a pure and potent multivitamin daily,” or, “getting one more hour of sleep each night.”

The only certainty is that doing the same thing you’ve always done is not going to get you a different result.
